Drawing inspiration from the 16-bit graphics of the video games popular during their original release in 1991, the Saucony GRID SD returns for the first time next week in the "Games Collection". The leather, suede, and synthetic mesh uppers are decked out in color schemes reminiscent of the looks one would find on their Super Nintendo or Sega Genesis screens. The accent colors on the upper are also repeated on the outsole, which is the same one found on the Shadow 5000.
The GRID SD also features Saucony's landmark G.R.I.D. (Ground Reaction Inertia Device) midsole cushioning system, which was the first such system to simultaneously absorb shock while providing stability. The technology present in this shoe, like the technology of the 16-bit games, was revolutionary for its time. It's fitting that Saucony chose to celebrate both with this pack.
