Most people tend to associate the holiday season with giving and receiving gifts from their friends and family, and that is great, but the feeling in your heart when you help a child in an extreme situation experience the joy of Christmas is the greatest gift of all. That is why City Blue is proud to be participating in a toy drive with Catholic Philadelphia Outreach to benefit children living in deep poverty. From now until December 16 we will be collecting new or like-new toys at our South Street location (at the corner of 6th and South Street). The toys do not need to be wrapped, but they do need to be in great condition. All toys will be donated by Catholic Philadelphia Outreach to homeless children from the North Philadelphia and Kensington area who are living with their families in the shelter system. 

Philadelphia is number 1 for large cities in the United States with people living in deep poverty. Deep poverty is defined as living at 50% BELOW the poverty line. There are approximately 160,000 people currently living in this condition in Philadelphia. Imagine trying to raise your family on, at best, $7000 a year. Impossible. Catholic Philadelphia Outreach is a charity organization seeking to bring needed clothing, appliances, and basic necessities to the poorest in Philadelphia. They are in need of funds to provide used small appliances, furniture, clothing, and toys to those living in deep poverty.
